Children at Campus Drive read the book, “A Castle on Viola Street,” by DyAnne DiSalvo about an organization of volunteers that helps to renovate abandoned homes. (Here is a link to the book: http://ow.ly/pXN7E)

They also learned a song about community leaders that they sing when helping to clean up the classroom:

♫♫♫♫♫♫♫

“This is the way we clean the community,

Clean the community,

Clean the community,

All day long!”

Students also learned about comforting friends when they are hurt on the playground and sang a song called, ” Hurry, Hurry Firefighter,” about the things firefighters need before they fight a fire and help others.

How might you expand on the conversation at home? We’d love to hear your ideas at tudorkatotsblog@gmail.com!
